I am from Canada, and a civil engineer. It is a tradition in Canada that every engineer receives an "iron ring" upon graduating university. This ring symbolizes the engineer's obligation to the public she serves. Basically, each engineer is supposed to wear it until they are no longer practicing (ie. retirement).
It's just a beveled stainless steel ring worn on the pinky finger of the right hand. (See attached picture)
My question is, would it be inappropriate to wear this ring at my wedding ceremony and reception? Should I leave it at home? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

There really is no right or wrong answer here so I'll tell you my opinion - wear the ring. You worked hard to get it. It's on your right hand anyway. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

I completely agree. There really is nothing wrong with wearing it and it means so much. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
