I would really like to do my hair in a "banana-clip" style.(like Julia Robert's in Steel Magnolias). I am having problems though trying to figure out if a veil will work with this style or not? If I DO have a veil, I would like to have one that I could take off easily so I didn't have to wear it all night, and just have a tiara. Should I even bother wearing a veil? Thanks!
Honestly, wearing a veil is traditional so it is really up to you if you want to wear one or not. One suggestion that I give to my brides when they want to wear a veil for tradition and to complete the "bride" look, but don't want to wear one, is to attach the veil low in the back of their hair (at the bottom of the hairstyle). When you place the veil there, it is out of the way so you don't feel like you have all of this veil around you. Plus since the veil is in the back you can still see it, but it doesn't take away from your face. So if you wear your hair like Julia Roberts, you can just put the comb under your hair, at the bottom of the style.
I agree with Lori regarding the "traditional behavior" of veil wearing. It is entirely up to you.
I think if you are choosing to wear your hair (I understand it to be rather long) in a banana clip -- a tiara, or hair ornaments would be better without the veil. Perhaps you could add "sparkle" or detail with matching clips or pins interspersed in your trailing locks. I think the veil at the base of your head will not work if your hair is trailing down the back of your neck ...
You are into your hair and HE probably is too ... flaunt your best on your wedding day. YOU are the BRIDE, remember? Be comfortable, be yourself ..... you can't help but be beautiful and happy.
