The only makeup I wear on a consistent basis is a tinted moisturizer with SPF. Is that bad to wear for photographs? I use it because I haven't found any foundations that don't look caked on and are too heavy for me. I like the natural light feel of tinted moisturizer (and I have dry skin, so it helps). I'll be doing my own makeup and really just want a natural look to my makeup.
Thanks for your help

Hello,
I think it is ok to wear a tinted moisturizer if you are happy with your look. Did you do a trial with your hair and makeup yet? Even if you are doing you own hair and makeup, the best advice I could give you, is to do a trial, and get into your gown, to see the final product. A good tip, is to stand in front of a mirror, about arms length distance, with a digital camera about waist level, and snap a few photos. This will give you a pretty acurate view of what you are going to look like in your photos, I learned this trick from a model, on the set of a photoshoot!
You mentioned that your skin is dry, and it sounds like you have even skin and do not need much corrections. If you are a woman of color, be careful of using a tinted moisturizer with SPF, ingredients such as zinc oxide, have a very white pigment in them ,and can give your face a whitish tint, and be a very different color from your body.
With any skin type or color, first prepare the skin for makeup with a simple, cleanser, toner and moisturizer, let it penetrate for a few minutes and apply a foundation primer for your skin type, in your case, a moisturizing one.
May I suggest:
Lola refine prime ( for normal to dry skin)
Benefit: Foundation faker: ( a compact of a sheer coverage tinted makeup)
