     Make up Question?

I am in a dilema when it comes to having my makeup done for my wedding. Generally, I do not wear any makeup, and when I put it on myself, I'm lucky if it stays on for 3 hours (everything, not just lips). If I do go to any type of function, I usually have the lady at the Clinique counter give me a free makeover.

In my area, there are a few spa's that offer make-up services. They range in price of about $50 to $80, however I would need to go to the Spa to have the work done. They consider themselves Professional Makeup Artists.

I have also found a Professional Makeup Artist in the area that has done work at Fashion shows in both NY and NJ, and will come to me and do the work. Her price is $175, but the rate is flexible if she is working on additional people. She also works for NAR(?) cosmetics and does free makeovers at the local Lord and Taylor if you buy 3 of their products.

I know that this Artist has a great portfilio and that is why her price is more than the Spa. Plus of course, she will come to me. My biggest question is whether the quality of her work would be any better than that of the Spa? My fiance and I are paying for the wedding ourselves so our budget is pretty tight and $100 does mean alot.

Any opinions would be most appreciated.....

Having a trial for your makeup is always recommended so you know what to expect for your wedding day. It will also help you to determine which artist does better work. Also, on your wedding day it may be well worth it to have the luxury of in-home wedding day makeup vs traveling to the spa to have your makeup done.

Normally an artist who works on fashion shows/magazines is quite talented because she has to be able to create any look the client ask her to create. Her skills grow with each booking. They are more familiar with what makeup works well on camera and in person as well.

Good Luck and Best Wishes!

killer bee,

Is this makeup artist near the Buffalo N.Y. area? Do you have a contact # for her?

Can anyone recommend a good hair/makeup artist in this area? I know nothing about the area and this is where the wedding is being planned.

I can't find any large department stores on the internet around there and do want my daughter and I to have this option!

Thanks for any help you can provide.
