     make up timing

Hello!
I've looked through the previous questions but don't find quite this:
I cannot find someone to come to my venue to do make up and hair. I did find a salon about 30 minutes away. My ceremony is at 4:30, and I want to leave plenty of time so I'm not stressed or rushing, but I also want my hair and make up to last to the ceremony and well into the night. When should I schedule my appointment? It seems like a waste to sit around in hair and make up hours before the ceremony, but again, I don't want to feel pressed and last minute about it and be rushing out of the salon.
Also, is there something I can do to make the look last, or freshen it up right before the ceremony?
Thanks so much!

I can't give any advice on keeping the makeup fresh, however, I need to tell you that your wedding day will be the fastest day you live in your life. After many years of wedding planning, it is almost vital that you make your appointments for first thing in the morning. Don't ride with anyone..that way if the person you rode with is running behind you're not stuck waiting for them. Wear a button down shirt so you don't have to pull your clothes over your head.

For a 4:30 wedding, I would make your appointment for no later than 10 am. You'll be done about 11:30 or noon. Then you have to make time for FOOD and then get back to where you are dressing. You want a few minutes to breathe and then get into your dress, it's now probably 1 or 1:30 and you'll probably be expected at the ceremony site at least 1 hour before and you have to travel. When it's all said and done there is only 30 minutes in each hour on your wedding day or so it seems.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! To keep your makeup nice and fresh all day, dust your face very lightly with Translucent Powder every two hours. Put your Maid of Honor in charge of that! This way, your makeup will not fade away. Timing: schedule your makeup application for AFTER your hair is done: heat from the curlers can damage your makeup. Allow 45 minutes to 1 hour for your own makeup and 30-35 minutes for the members of your bridal party. Basically, you want your hair and makeup to be done by the time your photographer arrives. Even if he/she will be taking "getting ready" pictures, it's better if your makeup is finished by that time - you will look beautiful in photographs!
