Inviting brother in law to the bachelor party

Hello, is it proper etiquette to invite my brother-in-law to the bachelor party? I get along with him fine and he's a nice guy, but he is not someone who I hang out with at all or would have much in common with my friends. My fiance tells me that I need to at least invite him. What should I do?

Dear Yacoxx,

That is a gray area. It would seem most proper to invite him because he is 'sort of' in a brother role. But, typically only those close to you would be invited. So, it is a tough one. I suppose this is like any other time when we don't have a solid rule. We do what we think is right and fair. If you think that he or his wife would be hurt if you didn't invite him, then it is best to invite him. If not, then don't.

You know, sometimes when you separate people from their comfort zone, they may surprise you. He just may be a very interesting person.

Best wishes,
