     Bachelorette/Bachelor Party

My finace and I are considering having a cookout/fire/party with everyone included, guys and girls. Is this appropraite or are we ruining tradition. I know if his best man plans a bachelor party it will include a lot of drinking and strippers, I am not really a fan of that, but I don't want to take that away from the guys. My fiance doesn't seem to mind, he likes the idea of the combined party. What should we do??

Dear Combining,

This is a great idea! Actually, the first bachelor party, in ancient Greece, was a dinner the groom would host. He would invite his family over for his last dinner as a single person and cook for them. So, deciding for ourselves how we wish to use these traditions is very appropriate.

Best wishes,
