Was wondering if it ridiculous to have the shower and the bachelorette party done in the same day? It would be 2 months prior to the wedding. I just think it's a lot to ask of people to do both in one day, just because some are being invited to one and not the other.

Dear Paula,
It is best not to host this on the same day, as one party can be a gift giving situation and the other is not. The shower is hosted and the guests are not expected to pay for anything besides, perhaps, a gift. And yet, the bachelorette party is hosted by the guests--they pay for themselves and the bride.
It is especially a problem when all are not invited to both parties, because some would be leaving as the second party begins.
