How old should the maid of honor be. Is seventeen years old too young? My cousin has always wanted me to be her maid of honor but I think she believed that I would be older by the time she got engaged. What are some things that I can do to help her even though I am so young? Am I still expected to give her a shower and a gift or can my mother and father throw her one? I want to do the right thing for her.
Thanks

Dear Too Young?
Some have placed an appropriate age for honor attendants and 17 is in that iffy place. This is because some may be able to do more than others, with the driving around and the ability to get around more than others.
But, there are things that you as a MOH would be asked to do, such as host the bacholorette party. Would you be able to do this? The shower is another. However, both of these are optional. Ask your cousin honestly if she feels that you may be too young. Other than the two parties, you need to just be there for her. Help her when she needs it and be at the 'helm' for the other bridesmaids.
Your parents really shouldn't host the bridal shower, because they are family. You can only because you would be the MOH. Your mother could help from the background.
