I'm 29 and my fiance is 37. We were planning to have 4 bridesmaids ages 15-25 and 4 groomsmen ages 16-25. Are we too old to have them as part of the bridal party? They are largely young close family members.
We are wondering whether we should just have the ring bearer, flower girls and a minibride.

These people are old enough to be members of the bridal party, so ask them if you like. However, only those "of age" can sign the marriage license or be expected to plan showers or participate with bachelorette parties.
Mini bride? Please, no. A flower girl and ring bearer are appropriate if you have 2 children you wish to include who are in that age bracket.
Select those with whom you're close and you'll be fine. Here is a good article on Selecting Your Bridal Party.

Are we (bride and groom) too old to be having bridesmaids and groomsmen? We are also considering the fact that the intended groomsmen are not close to the groom just young family members.
Alternatively, is it ok for us to have the flower girl, ring bearer, maid of honour (my sis), matron of honour and best man?

Too old to have bridesmaids and groomsmen? No. But, you should select the number of attendants based on the formality of the wedding and the number of guests invited. If the wedding is informal, then having one or two attendants is appropriate. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
