Bridesmaid No Longer in Wedding, Still coming to Rehearsal Dinner
One of my bridesmaids let me know less than two weeks ago that she would not be in my wedding- she had a failed engagement and thinks it would be too hard to be in my wedding. She knew she was to be in my wedding 11 1/2 months ago, but just decided to back out. I have since replaced her with a more responsible friends (who is luckily the same size), but rehearsal dinner invitations went out a month ago. My wedding is in two weeks. I just found out that the bridesmaid who backed out is still planning on coming to my rehearsal dinner, even though she doesn't want to be in my wedding. And to top it off, she has decided to bring an ex boyfriend of mine (not a serious one) as her date. I feel like this will make my fiance uncomfortable. How do I tastefully go about letting her know that she is no longer invited to the rehearsal dinner since she has declined to be in the wedding? And if she insists on coming, how can I let her know that bringing my ex boyfriend as her date would be awkward for my fiance?

Please call her (no emails here) and tell her that only those in the wedding are to be coming to the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner. Let her know that you already replaced her and that your budget (or, if this party is being hosted by someone else, that host's budget) will not allow for additional guests. Sorry. Tell her you can't wait to see her at the wedding and leave it at that. Don't leave room for her to try to convinvce you otherwise.
