A couple of months ago, I reached out to my bridal party letting them know that I have chosen a make-up artist. I made it clear that using the artist was optional. A few bridesmaids attended the trial and agreed to using this artist. A few days later, I sent a reminder of fees required and dates.
I had to call and email one bridesmaid several times trying to get the payment. She said she didn't have it at the time, but would have it the following week. Not wanting to hold up the contract any longer, I sent a check out with the payment in full, confident that my bridesmaid would send me her payment. Days go by and I, once again, had to track her down to try and get the payment. Hoping she would understand the importance of the situation I reach out again and she took that opportunity to go off on me saying that she feels the price is way to much for this particular service. However, she will give me the money anyway. I told her not worry about it, although I DID make clear what the fees were before attending the trial session and twice thereafter. She then said that she doesn't want to create more stress for me than I already have and will pay for it anyway.
An additional 5 days as of today and she still has not given me the money to cover her portion.
This is someone I grew up very close to, but was reunited with after loosing touch for about 6 years. Not to mention I am very embarrassed to tell my artist that someone has backed out because of price.
This is only one of many issues I have had with my bridal party, this being the first with this particular person. Please give me some advice because I am at my wits end!

Dear SweetT,
I believe that this is one of those life lessons--don't pay for things like this until the job is done. People change their minds and sometimes their funds change as well, especially these days. Other than that, you may just have to grin and bear it. She knows she owes you. If she can pay you, she will.
