     Can bridesmaid host engagement party

Who's responsible for hosting the engagement party? Is it appropiate for the bridesmaid to throw the party?

An engagement party is an optional event which can be hosted by anyone, although it is typically hosted by the parents of the bride or groom. Only those invited to the wedding should be invited so please ask the person planning the wedding about all of this.

I absolutely agree. Plus, traditionally this is not a gift giving event. So, please no mention of gifts.
