In the Midwest

     Clarification Please

In my earlier message I stated that my daughter would not be invited, but it has come to my attention that other people who will be flying in with infants and babies, will be allowed to have their children at the wedding. The bride told me I should fly my babysitter in with me. First of all, the plane tickets are $529 a piece. Second of all, as I stated earlier, the only direct flight to where she is having the wedding arrives at 5PM and the rehearsal is at 6PM. Flying in a day earlier (Thursday), increases my airfare by $125 per ticket, and the hotel rooms we are staying at, are $229/night. I believe that this is an outrageous request. Aside from being completely annoyed, the mother of the bride, informed my mother, as she RSVP'd to the shower in which I did not receive an invite to, that "she was glad she wasn't coming," she didn't want to obligate her to another gift. At this point, I am now paying $1600 for airfare, $500 for hotel, $450 for dress & shoes, $135 for Bachelorette party. To ask me to come in a day earlier, take off an additional day of work for my husband and myself, and to incur and additional $600 is outrageous. I do not see why she could not understand. I have told her how annoyed I am yet, but if I am asked to contribute anything else, I think I might scream.

Dear Clarification,

I'm not sure what I can tell you or what your question is. I understand your frustration and this is the main reason I suggest to everyone to contemplate this 'honor' of agreeing to be a part of someone's bridal party. I agree that it was not nice to allow some to bring children and not you.

If your husband is coming with you, can't he babysit your child?

Best wishes,
