My aunt keeps telling me my brides maid should be someone special to me, but none of my friends are showing the slightest intrest in my wedding. All of our planning is almost finished anyway, we only have to choose an officiant and a caterer. My friends don't have enough money for a bridal shower and I don't agree with their ideas for a bachelorette party. But I still need people to help me on the wedding day. Can I ask just a few of my friends to help me out during the wedding day without asking them to be brides maids? I would ask them all to be brides maids, but my plan was always to have one brides maid and make her dress as her gift but I'm not sure I'll have the time/patience/money to do that for 3 girls. The wedding's in 5 months, and I don't know what to do!!

Re: [pookabee] Do I have to have a brides maid?

Dear Pookabee,
The number of bridesmaids typically relate to the formality of the wedding. So, if you are having an informal wedding, you would want fewer bridesmaids anyway.
You can have just a Maid of Honor if you want, especially if this is to be a small informal wedding.
It is your choice to ask your friends to help you on your wedding day. Often friends do.
