I am a bridesmaid in a wedding in Miami next week. I have spent a lot of money on my dress, shoes, airfare, and hotel. Is it necessary to also give a wedding gift? Does the bridal party normally purchase gifts?

Yes, it is customary for all invited wedding guests to send a gift. The gift does not have to be expensive; just select a meaningful gift from the heart. Perhpas you could make something if you're crafy or choose a special rememberance of the day such as a beautiful picture frame or photo album.
