     Expenses mounting

I am to be one of the bridesmaids (from four) at my best friends wedding. I currently live in another country to my friend, so will be traveling there and back with my husband. I just found out the cost of the bridesmaid dress which I feel is excessive especially as the extras of shoes, jewelry etc haven't been added. I feel that I should mention to her that the expenses are starting to get a bit much for myself (and my husband). We are the only ones traveling from abroad. Do you think she should cut us some financial slack? What would be appropriate, just to shut up and pay for everything...? Any advice would be great thank you.

Dear Abroad,

Sorry, but you are responsible for these costs. These days it is expensive with a capital $$$ to be a bridesmaid. I don't think I would want to agree to participate if asked now. The bride should offer to pay for your lodging when you arrive for the wedding though. That may help a bit.
