Is bridesmaid required to attend bridal tea 1 1/2 hours away?

I am a bridesmaid in a wedding in December. Am I required to attend a bridal tea that is 1 1/2 hours away (not the location of the wedding)? It is being hosted by the groom's mother's church members. I have attended an engagement party already and then will attend the bridesmaid luncheon (the day after x-mas in a different state) and rehearsal dinner and all that. I can't attend the bachelorette party since its the day after Thanksgiving (in a different state). What should I do? Thanks

Dear Emma,

No you don't have to attend. And, I can't imagine what this could be. Hopefully all of these women are invited to the wedding and it is not a gift giving event.

Best wishes,

Thanks so much for the reply! I think it is an excuse to get more gifts. She has exceeded her 2 showers already. She is totally oblivious to the whole wedding etiquette part.

Oh my! I'm glad you are a good distance from this.
