MOG says if sister's husband is on his side than his sister has to be on my side

I have already selected my bridal party. My fiance has not, and when he was talking to his mother about it she said I need to ask his sister if he has her husband as groomsman. Is this true? I don't think I should be forced to ask someone to be in my wedding when we barely speak. Not that I don't like her, she's a great person, we just live 1500 miles apart and don't know one another. I don't know what to do. I really don't want to upset his mother! That's not a good way to start off our marriage. Unsure

Dear Ninna,

She is mistaken. You are not obligated, nor is it a "rule", to ask his sister to be a member of your attendants. Your fiance should speak to his mother about this. But, if she is insistent, it might not be such a bad idea to include her just to keep peace.

Best wishes,
