I have been recently asked my one of my close friends to be here personal attendent. She has many sisters and so she had a large wedding party but wanted me to be involved- so her specifications would be that i would basically be in the wedding party but just not stand up front. And she wants me to wear the same dress as the bridesmaids but in a different color. Has anyone heard of this before? I am honored to have been asked but I feel that it will be awkward to be in the wedding party but not in it. Has anyone heard of this role before? Should i tell her that i would be happy to help her in any way but I dont need to be dressed and have my hair done like the rest of the girls?

I have never heard of this "personal attendant" before. What are the duties that she is asking you to perform? Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com

She wants me to help her with planning, and getting ready the day of, straighten out her dress at the alter and any other things that comes up. She also wants me to be at all the other festivities, groom's dinner, etc. She also made it clear she wants me to have the same dress as the bridesmaids, only in another color- and also have my hair the same as them. While I do not mind helping her, I don't know how to ask her why she wants me to dress the same as the bridesmaids, since I will not be standing in front during the ceremony
