I have asked my sister to be my Maid of Honour and my brother-in-law to give me away. I would love my two nephews to have a role, but don't know in which capacity. They are 12 and 14 years old and, naturally, would feel a little too "old" to be page-boys. This is a civil ceremony in a local castle. My partner tells me that the ushers are traditionally his choice, otherwise I'd have chosen "the boys" for that job.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
PS - my friend's little daughter; and my partner's niece are bridesmaids.

Re: Roles for 12 and 14 year olds in wedding

Dear Dunemist,
It is correct that the groom chooses his groomsmen. And, they are much too old to be pages.
Perhaps they could be involved in other way, such as tending the sign in book and handing out programs. They could also light candles if you are using them during the ceremony.
If the young ladies are under 16, it may be best if they are jr bridesmaids. There isn't much difference in the roles except that they would wear age appropriate dresses, which is best anyway.
