She wants to be a bridesmaid

I have a friend that I have known for a long time. My problem is, I was not going to ask her to be a bridesmaid in my upcoming wedding. The way she has talked in the past, before I got engaged, leads me to believe that she assumes that she will be one. I dont want to lose her as a friend, but I dont have room for another bridesmaid. How do I tell her nicely that she cant be one?

Why do you feel you have to tell her? Unless she asks you directly (which really would be rude of her so I doubt that she will) simply don't mention it. Perhaps you could drop hints that you have many family members to ask and you're having a ahrd time choosing only a few of them.
