     Thanking the Bride or Bridesmaids

Is it proper for the Bride to thank the Bridesmaids for being in the wedding or the Bridesmaids to thank the Bride for asking them to be in the wedding?

Dear Sheila,

The bride should thank the bridesmaids. They are spending their time and money to help the bride with "her day". In the past it was a bridal luncheon. But, today it could be anything. This is usually the time the bride gives her gifts to the bridesmaids.

Best wishes,

And, sometimes the bridal party gifts are given at the rehearsal dinner.
