Dear Carolmarie,

This is your maid or matron of honor. Honor attendant is a great term for anyone in this position, even a male. This person holds your fiance's ring and bouquet during the ceremony. She/he may help you dress and run errands on your wedding day. She/he may fill the traditional 'mother of the bride' role by helping you pick out dresses, cake, etc.

She/he may opt to host the bridal shower and bachelorette parties.

Best wishes,
