     matron of honor speech

I'm the matron of honor at my best friend's wedding and she has asked me to make a speech at the reception. I have written a speech but now that I'm reading it I think I'm discussing too much of our relationship with eachother. I don't really know too much about the groom so I don't have much to contribute as far as that goes. I was asked to share some funny stories but don't really have much atleast that wouldn't bore the other guests or be inappropriate. I really need some advice on this. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Jujubee,

If you think you might be focusing too much on you and the bride, you're probably right. You should follow your instincts on this, and follow your instincts when it comes to choosing funny stories about the brides past - especially if you think they may be inappropriate. After all, you know who the guests are.

As for humor, maybe you could find out something funny that she did in the past when she was very young - and then say that "this is just like her because ________."

As for the groom, a few sentences are all that is needed. Even if what you say is "[groom], you have made my best friend happier than I have ever seen her. Even though I've only met you on a few occasions, I know this: if she says you're THE ONE, then I know it's true."

And if all else fails, find someone you can test your speech on and get their reaction.
