     matron of honour?

I have a matron of honour who is going to be my sister in law once married and she is getting a bit difficult. What are her exact duties?

I can certainly tell you what is expected of the matron of honour but I'm not quite certain how you would let her know where she is failing in her duties without causing some sort of rift between the two of you. Perhaps there is a family member or friend who can coach her in the following responsibilities of the matron of honor? Please don't do this yourself.

Traditional Matron of Honour Responsibilities are mainly to assist the bride with the wedding details before and on the day of the wedding:

1. Plan shower

2. Shop for the wedding gown with the bride.

3. Shop for bridesmaids dresses with the bridal and help arrange a coordinate fittings.

4. Help bride dress on the day of the wedding.

5. Hold bride's bouquet and grooms rings during ceremony.

6. Acts as a witness during the ceremony and signs marriage license.

7. Makes a toast at the reception.

8. Helps bride into her going away attire, if applicable.

If your soon-to-be sister in-law does not come through for you don't force the subject. Ask another bridesmaid, family member or friend to help out. Trust me, it's not worth the lifetime of grief it might cause to squabble.
