     sister in wedding party

I just want to know what percentage of brides include a sister in the wedding party. I have been told that it is traditional to have a sister in the wedding party, but I realize that some choose not to have sister in wedding party. I want to add that I get along with sister, but are not really close. My mom kind of expects me to have sister in wedding party and I am afraid that my sister's feelings will be hurt if I don't. What should I do?

There isn't a percentage that I can give you. Nor is it 'traditional' to include a sister. Wedding party attendants are selected based on who is close to the bride and groom. Sometimes that includes a sibling, sometimes it doesn't. While it is nice to do so, it isn't obligatory on your part.

You could allow your sister to hold some other special role such as read a poem, sing a solo (if she can sing), or something along those lines.
