My fiance and I are trying to find a role for his 11 year old brother in our wedding. We have no junior bridesmaid. My fiance thought it would be nice to ask him to be a junior usher and hand out programs, then walk his mom (the MOG) down the aisle during the processional. The MOG doesn't like this idea; I think she wants him to have a larger role in the wedding, since my fiance's older brother is his Best Man. Any other suggestions for a role for an 11 year old boy in our wedding?

I think your idea sounds perfect. What does the groom think? It's really up to the two of you to choose a role. In fact, there is no rule that says you must include him at all, though I understand that you want him to be a part of the wedding. I also understand that you'd like to please the groom's mom. But, ultimately, it's your choice if he plays a role and, if so, what role you choose.
He could also do a reading during the ceremony of, if you have a unity candle ceremony, all of the family members could be included. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

I agree that the decision is yours. I think for an 11 year old the role of junior usher and handing out programs is perfect. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com
