1 year old ring bearer or flower girl

My fiance and I are currently pregnant (sex of baby is unknown) and will be getting married when the baby is just over 1 year old. I realize this is young for the traditional roles of either ring bearer or flower girl however I feel that our child should have a place in the ceremony. I was thinking that one of my best friends (who is absolutely amazing with kids) could carry the baby down the aisle. This would also solve the dilemma of which of my best friends to have as my maid of honor (as we're not having additional bridesmaids/groomsmen) and create an extra position in the procession for the other friend. Would this be appropriate or am i just trying to hard to make things fit that don't?

Dear Abcdefg,

This is fine and may just be very cute. If the child cries, your friend could simply hand your child to someone close to you. So, I can't really think of a down side.

Best wishes,
