     Alternative to ring bearer pillow

I am not a big fan of the ring bearer pillow but I want my 9 year old newphew to walk in my wedding. Is it appropriate for him to accompany the 9 year old junior bridesmaid down the aisle and then take a place beside the best man (who will have the ring)?

Since the typical age of a ring bearer is 3 - 7 years a more appropriate role for your 9 year old nephew would be a jr. groomsmen. He would stand with the other groomsmen and the groom and then escort the jr. bridesmaid out.
