Asking Parents for Children's Participation in Wedding

What is the proper way to ask parents if children can be part of the wedding party? This is a second marriage for both and my fiance and I have grandchildren and nieces and nephews we would like but I don't know the parents, his relatives.....

Dear Sharon:

Have your groom ask his relatives. I assume he knows them better than you do.
