Conflicting with my CHILD about flower girl part

I have a dilemma. It may change as my daughter gets older in the next few months, but right now, it's giving me a headache. If this gets lengthy, I apologize.

My daughter is 7 right now. We are planning an October 2010 wedding - she will be 9 at this time.

I feel she is too old to be a flower girl, but ultimately I do realize this is my decision.

I have discussed this with her and I want her to be a junior bridesmaid - I want her to play an important role in my wedding, because this is important to both of us. My soon-to-be-husband will be taking an important role in my life as well as in hers. I want her to feel involved.

I want my best friend (and my MOH)'s daughter, who will be almost 3 at this time, to be my flower girl. I have a nephew who will be the ring bearer, who will be 3 1/2 at this time.

I considered this scenario:
Flower girl and ring bearer walk down aisle first [this is traditional to my understanding?]
My daughter - walks down shortly after they do - in the event that they "freak" and cannot walk down without assistance, she can help them down the aisle - and since it means so much to her, I wouldn't mind her carrying a basket of flowers also to throw.

Would this be considered tacky?
Thanks :)
