Hi. I will soon be junior bridesmaid for my second cousin for her December 06 wedding. Since I am only 13, I was wondering what special gift I could give her just from me. Since I am only a kid, and I'm a bit tight on money, I was thinking maybe something crafty, but I have completely no ideas for something that will mean a lot to her. Please help!
I do have a few suggestions for you however you may need to get some help from a friend or an adult on some of these ideas, depending on your skill level, budget and time.
1. Preserve the wedding invitation as a keepsake. There are many ways to do this. You can glue strands of pearls, ribbons and tiny silk flowers (purcased at a local creft store) or give it a "quilling" (Quilling is the art of rolling thin strips of paper into different shapes and using the shapes to form designs. It is also known as paper filigree.) and then place the decorated invitation into a frame or keepsake box.
2. Hand Crafted Photo Album: Woven ribbons and clusters of flowers turn a plain album into something special just by placing a copy of the wedding invitation on a purchased photo album and embellishing with your choice of wedding decorations. I hope these suggestions get your creative juices flowing and bless you for being so sweet! Your cousin made a great choice for junior bridesmaid. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
You are a breathe of fresh air! And, darn... the Wedding Queen told you of my favorite gift.
Two of my 'adult' guests gave me two handmade wedding gifts that are so special, I still have them on my walls. One was my wedding invitation preserved by decoupage with a gold ring and pearls. It is so sweet.
The second is even more amazing. This lady is very good with her hands. She memorialized my wedding day with embroidery and placed it in a beautiful frame.
Of the all of the thoughtful but store bought gifts we received, these two are the ones I first think of when considering our wedding gifts. In fact, these are the only two gifts we still have. 'Things' break and have a limited life span. These will be with us forever.
Between now and the wedding, try and get a good candid picture of your cousin and fiancee. If you take it with a film camera, make sure when you have the image developed that you request they also provide high resolution digital images on disk.
If you will be taking the picture with a digital camera, be sure and set your camera to super fine or best possible image BEFORE you take the picture. This way, once you take the picture, you will be able to have the picture printed as an 8x10 or larger.
If you have any type of photo editing software bring the image in and make sure it is sized for the picture you want to have printed. Then overlay text on top of the image with their name and date of their wedding perhaps at the bottom. Be as creative as you wish to be or can. Then save the file as an uncompressed tiff. Copy to a CD, then take to Walmart or some other inexpensive place and have a print made.
Once the print is made, craft a photo frame either using the theme colors of their wedding or theme from their wedding and place the print inside.
Perhaps you could give them the picture before the wedding and they could place by their guestbook. That way they would have it for their reception.
You might consider personalizing a guest book and decorating it for them. If you decide to do the photo in the frame and need some help or advice, just let me know.

Thankyou all so much for going to the trouble of replying with such beautiful and heartfelt ideas. I really can't tell you how much it means to me to be able to give a special gift as georgeous as the ones that you have described. I know that it will mean so much to the bride-to-be. I really love the idea of a hand-crafted photo album (from the Wedding Queen)!! Again, thankyou all so much for your help! I will be thinking of you when I give the bride-to-be her gift!!
Thank YOU for being such a wonderful example for all bridesmaids. Your maturity and respect for others is admirable and refreshing.
I'm sure your cousin will think of you ever time she opens her wedding album. I've literally made hundreds of these fabric covered albums so if you need help please don't hesitate to ask. One tip I can give you before you start is to be sure you have a low temp glue gun. It will prove invaluable!
