I am considering having my future husband's sister in my wedding party. At the time of the wedding, she will be 16 and a half, should she be a bridesmaid or jr. bridesmaid. The other bridesmaids will all be in their mid 20's. What should be bachelorette party planner do about her age?

Re: [ritaandjulia] age for junior bridesmaid?

Dear ritaandjulia,
Normally a junior bridesmaid is between 8-12 years old. The option is yours to make her either. If you prefer she be a Junior Bridesmaid, then do so. If you want her to be a Bridesmaid then go ahead. In either case, unless she's unusally mature, she won't be able to handle all of the bridesmaid responsibilites. Whether bridemaid or junior bridesmaid she will not be able to partake of the usual bachelorette party if there will be alcohol or adult activities, so your choices are not to invite her or make it something that a 16 year old could attend.
