There will be four children in our candle-light 6:30PM formal black-tie wedding. Their ages are 11,13, 14 and 17. These will be the only children at the wedding and reception. The reception is at a hotel where the parents will be staying. Cocktails will be at 8:00PM, Dinner around 9:00PM. Is it proper to make a 11:00 PM curfew for the children? This will excuse them after dinner. We will provide a babysitter if necessary.
As a "child-advocate" I just know the younger children will be very tired and more comfortable if they can be excused from the wedding. This will also give the adults the freedom to be in an "adults-only" atmosphere from 11PM until 1 AM.
Please give me your advise. Thank you.

If you are inviting the children then they are invited to the entire event. It cannot be up to you to parent these children. It will have to be up to the parents to decide if the children need to be excused.
Of course, you could offer to provide a babysitter, suggesting that it may be too late for the kids. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
