We are trying to find an important role for our 4 year old son in the ceremony. We have decided not to have a flower girl and ring bearer, so that option is out. We'd rather him not be the best man, because we feel he's too young. But we would like for him to have a special part in the ceremony if possible. Any ideas?
UPDATE
We have decided to have our mothers light our individual candles during the unity candle part of the ceremony. I am going to light a 3rd single candle for our son then the 3 of us will light the large unity candle together. Thanks for all the ideas! -ABC (Soon to be ABCD)

Re: son's place in the wedding ceremony

The role most appropriate for a child that age is ring bearer (even if he doesn't carry the real rings, or even a pillow). Since you've decided against that role, perhaps he could participate in a ceremony joining him into your new family, like a "coin" or "bracelet" or "necklace" ceremony, or even play a part in a sand ceremony. Other than that, or calling him a "Page" (which would be weird because he's not carrying anything), Crown Bearer or something similar, there's not another appropriate "title" for a child his age.
