My son is getting married soon and he would like to escort me to my seat. How should the groom escort his mother to her seat?

Dear Has a Loving Son,
The only problem with this is that it could upstage the mother of the bride. She is the last one seated and should be in the spot light. Perhaps your son could seat both of you and then walk up to the alter. That would be special and would still work logistically.

Thank you for replying to my e-mail, about my son escorting me to my seat. The mother of the bride passed away in Dec '04. I don't want to do anything to be disrespectful to the bride. This is something that my son wanted to do. Whatever your reply I will abide by.
Thank you

That is so sad. As long as the bride is fine with this then it is fine. Your son could walk you to your seat and then step up to his place at the alter. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
