As the groom, my future mother-in-law has suggested that my groomsmen act as parking attendents of sorts at the wedding. She gas suggested that they escort women from their cars and then go park their cars.
I really don't think it is a good idea. It really isn't their role at the wedding to do that sort of thing,( Or is it?) and I'm very uncomfortable asking them to do that. I think if we are to have parking attendants we should hire them. (If we even really need them) There also is a liability issue involved with having the groomsmen drive folks cars, and keeping up with the keys and getting their car back to them after the ceremony.
It is an honor to be a groomsman and to be part of the wedding ceremony, I'm not asking them to "work" (for lack of a better word) at the wedding.
It is sort of like asking bridesmaids to serve the food. At some weddings that might be ok, but at our venue I don't think that would be all-right.
Am I wrong here? Help please!

I agree with you. Hire parking lot attendants. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

I too agree with the Queen. Your point on the liability is a key issue. Anything missing from the cars or a scratch or dent and you'll never hear the end of it. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com and http://www.coordinatorscorner.com

I agree also. The groomsmen may often wait around after the wedding to make sure everyone has a ride to the reception and knows where it is, but to park their cars in today's world??? That is a stretch.
The groomsmen can escort the ladies once they reach the doors of the location. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now

Not to mention if any of the cars turn up missing. Liability is an issue here. Leave this to professionals to handle.
