Groomsmen in a destination wedding are paying their own travel and hotel expenses, rental costs of the tux and paying to throw a bachelor party. They are also have to use two days vacation time from work to attend. Are they obligated to also get the couple a gift?

Re: [topaz88] Groomsmen obligated to give wedding gifts?

It's unfortunate that the bridal couple did not offer to pay for the groomsmen' lodging but vacation time, travel and tux rentals are all basic requirements of agreeing to be a member of the bridal party. The bachelor party is an optional event so if they agreed to host this then they are obligated to pay their share.
In light of the above the groomsmen are really still expected to give a gift. It can be a group gift and they can choose to buy a less expensive gift to suit their budget if they need. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
