Lots of bridesmaids and no groomsmen

Hello,
My fiancee and I have a slight dilemma. Whereas I have plenty of girlfriends to choose bridesmaids from, my future husband does not. He feels he does not have very many good friends to choose groomsmens for the bridal party. We both lack brothers who could stand in as the groomsmen. And, it would be strange to have 6 bridesmaids and 0 groomsmen! Right? As this point, both of us are OK with an alternative wedding but I have no idea what we could do. And of course, I would like to have bridesmaids but I don't want him to feel like he needs to just ask anyone. Also, both of us are older and we don't feel the need to have the "fairy tale" wedding. More interesting and original would be a great theme for us. If anyone has a great idea, please share!

Thank you!
