The colors for my wedding are purple and gold. The groom wants a purple suit for he and the best man, but he wants the groomsman to wear black separates and something to coordinate with the wedding colors. He doesn't really want the groomsmen to wear ties. He really likes the shirts with the thin collar that has one button at the top. How should we go about making the groomsman coordinate and look nice. Any suggestions will help

Re: [Sarai6868] Purple suits for groom and best man

Dear Sarai,
Purple suits? I don't know if you could even find purple suits. But, the bottom line here is that all of the men should be dressed the same and in the same formality. Now, if this is an informal affair, then the 'rules' are relaxed. These rules seem to be changing a bit anyway. But, all should be dressed in the same formality regardless.
Suits and sport jackets are completely different levels of formality. It should be suits for all or sport jackets and slacks for all.
If you are dressing the men in sport jackets, this means that they will have to purchase them. Men aren't as used to purchasing their attire for weddings as women are. So, you may have a problem with them. But, they could all purchase the same jacket from the same store. This would help with continuity.
