My son is going to be his brother's best man. HOwever, he has never done this before. The wedding will be a full Catholic mass with military accoutrments. What does he need to do?
The following are the traditional duties and responsibilities of the best man:
Attends all opre-wedding parties.
Pays for his own wedding attire, transportation.
Organizes Bachelor Party, if there is one.
Contribute to the cost of and coordinates the groomsmen and ushers' gift to the groom.
Makes sure groom's wedding related payments are prepared; delivers prearranged payments to service providers such as the officiant, musicians and singers at the ceremony.
See that groomsmen and ushers arrive on time and are properly dressed.
Instructs ushers in correct seating of guests.
Keeps bride's wedding ring during the ceremony.
If there is no limo then the best man is responsible for transporting the bride and groom to the reception; has a car ready for bride and groom departure from the reception.
Offers first toast and speech at the reception; dances with bride, mothers, maid of honor and other single guests.
