My sister who is 40 years old and owns her own home is getting married in June for the first time. Her fiancee has also never been married. The bridal party is in the process of planning her bridal shower.
Since she has been a homeowner for many years, she doesn't need the usual shower gifts of toasters, blenders, etc. What she would really like are gift cards to home improvement stores and warehouse price clubs.
Is there any way we can request this on the shower invitations that wouldn't be against proper etiquette? We are in a difficult situation because we want to honor her gift wishes, but we certainly do not want to offend any of the guests.
It wouldn't be appropriate to request gift cards, but you could list the registries. At each store she could choose the gifts she would like and a variety of gift card denominations.
