Okay, here is the question. My fiancee & I have been together for 10 years. We have finally set a date, and my friends want to throw a bridal shower! Do you think after the time we have been together this is appropriate? We have a home together & I really do not want to offend anyone, even though everyone is thrilled at the news. Thanks for any advice.

Congatulations!
A shower is no longer the party thrown to help the bride set up a new home but rather to get the guests and the bride together to make them all feel a part of the planning process. Gifts are still a big part of it but if you feel you don't need gifts, talk to the hostess and let her know that you'd prefer a giftless shower. These are becoming quite popular.
Please be sure that the hostess is not a family member, unless she is is a member of the bridal party and that all guests to the shower are invited to the wedding. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
