Bridal shower for a second marriage

Is it appropriate to have a bridal shower for a second marriage? I am the bride-to-be and my daughter (16) wants to hold a shower for me. I told her itwas inappropriate since she is a family member. The wedding is in a month and a half and no one has asked me about a shower. What do you advise?

A family member should not host a shower unless she is in the bridal party. If your daughter is a member of the bridal party she could host a shower but it would be best for her to have the party at another location other than your own home.

Showers are acceptable for second marriages since you may have new guests being invited this time around. Just know that family members and friends who came to the first shower should not be expected to bring a gift.
