Children in Wedding go to Shower?

Wondering if children (7 years of age) who are in the bridal party should be expected to go to the bridal shower? The mother of the bride is hosting the shower and did not invite them. I'm the step mother of the bride and wonder if I should attend if my children weren't invited?

Dear Stepmother,

The children typically are not invited. This is usually an adult event. If you were invited and want to attend, you should go.

Mothers should not host bridal showers, it is viewed as self serving.

Best wishes,
