Dividing the cost of the shower

I am planning on throwing a bridal shower for the bride, along with the 4 other bridesmaids. We have had one meeting with me and 3 of the bridesmaids. Everyone has agreed to divide the cost evenly, but I was just wondering how to handle who gets what? Do we all go shopping together and pick out stuff or should we all meet and go over who buys what? How soon before the shower do we need to send out the invitations?

Andi:

How you divi up the responsibilities is up to all of you. This decision should be made by all of you after some discussion.

The bridal shower invitations should be sent about 4 weeks in advance of the event; giving your guests ample time to plan for the date, but not so far in advance that they might forget.
