     Hosting a couples shower

Are the parents of the bride and groom expected to host a shower for the couple? The bride is already having a 'bridal shower'. (and a second shower, called something else)

Thanks in advance.

No, showers are totally optional and are not to be hosted by a family member.

If these parents choose to host in inappropriate event (this couple is already getting 2 pre-wedding parties, no matter what you call it) then it is up to them to foot the bill.

I completely agree. Plus, more than two showers is not appropriate.

Additionally, parents are not financially responsible for any of the wedding costs. The days of the bride's parents paying for X and the groom's parents paying for Y are over.
