I am the mother of the bride and am trying to figure out an appropriate amount to spend on my daughter's bridal shower gift. Is there any etiquette regarding this?

There is no proper amount to spend on anyone for any occasion. But, shower gifts are supposed to be less expensive than wedding gifts. In fact, there are many who opt for the gift-less showers these days.
