How to politely decline invitation to fiance's sister's bridal shower

My fiance's sister is having a bridal shower 3-4 hours away and I was invited. I do not want to be rude by declining, however I have not been close to the family/sister. I told my fiance that I would go if he would drive with me to visit with other family members. He does not want to do this. Is it rude to decline the invitation?

Dear Cannon,

No, it is not being rude to decline this invitation. It is quite a drive. So, just sent a nice card.

Best wishes,
